Ericsson, MediaTek achieve 5G upload speed of 440Mbps with carrier aggregation

NEW DELHI: Swedish telecom gear maker Ericsson and Taiwanese fabless chipmaker MediaTek have achieved a record 5G upload speed of 440Mbps in low-band and mid-band with Uplink Carrier Aggregation.

The record uplink speed was achieved in an interoperability development test at an Ericsson lab, the gear maker said in a statement Monday.

The test was performed with RAN Compute Baseband 6648 and a mobile device using MediaTek Dimensity 9200 5G chipset, it added.

The Uplink Carrier Aggregation involved the combination of 50MHz FDD n1 and 100MHz TDD n77. Ericsson said that by aggregating these two bands, communication service providers (CSPs) can “considerably increase” their uplink speeds.
