Ericsson launches new RAN units ‘hardware prepared’ for OpenRAN deployments

NEW DELHI: Swedish telecom gear maker Ericsson has expanded its Radio Access Network (RAN) portfolio with four new RAN units, two high-capacity processors, new carrier aggregation software, and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven routers to prepare telcos for network demands of 5G-Advanced and enhanced AI algorithms.

Ericsson’s next-generation RAN Compute portfolio includes four products with high and standard capacity variants, and with both enclosure and outdoor formats, said Ericsson in a media statement, noting its new RAN units are “hardware prepared” for Open Radio Access Network (OpenRAN) deployments.
