Ericsson, Intel, HPE successfully demonstrate Cloud RAN call
NEW DELHI: Swedish telecom gear maker Ericsson, chipmaker Intel, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) have successfully jointly demonstrated a Cloud RAN call in Ottawa, Canada.
The demonstration involved Ericsson’s Cloud RAN solution on the 4th-gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors with Intel vRAN Boost, based on HPE ProLiant DL110 servers.
“Ericsson Cloud RAN is the industry’s first virtualized RAN solution to be successfully demonstrated and ready to deploy on the new 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors with Intel vRAN Boost,” said Ericsson in a statement Tuesday.
Ericsson said the demonstration marks a significant step forward in helping telecom service providers meet the needs for “more open, resilient, sustainable, and intelligent mobile networks”.
