Ericsson, Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo to take steps to mandate Aarogya Setu app among staff

New Delhi: The telecom industry including vendors and smartphone brands said that they will take the required action to comply by the government’s order mandating the use of Aarogya Setu app for all private sector employees.

A senior executive of a leading telco said “the company is yet to implement the home ministry advisory as the mandatory download of Aarogya Setu app appears to apply only to corporate staff going to office for work, and may accordingly, not be applicable in a Work from Home scenario”. He added that the telco “is still in the process of interpreting” the home ministry advisory.

Telecom gear vendor Ericsson said that the company has already issued an internal advisory in April to its employees to download the app, but had not made it mandatory.
