Ericsson, Elisa launch In-Service Software Upgrade in live 5G SA network

NEW DELHI: Swedish telecom gear maker Ericsson and Elisa have launched the In-Service Software Upgrade (ISSU) capability in the telecom operator’s 5G standalone (SA) network. This will enable the telco to update its core network software efficiently, with no interruption to its customer service or experience.

The companies plan to include the capability in other parts of the 5G Core solution in time. It was delivered via Ericsson’s Continuous Delivery and Deployment (CDD) pipeline, an integral automation aspect of its cloud-native 5G Core.

With this, Elisa has become Ericsson’s first customer globally to launch ISSU through this deployment model, said the companies in a statement Monday.
