Ericsson bags 5G contract from Zain

NEW DELHI: Kuwaiti telecom major Zain on Monday partnered with Ericsson to roll out its commercial 5G network in the island nation of Bahrain.

According to an official statement, the swedish giant will provide 3GPP standards-based 5G new radio (NR) hardware and software from its radio system portfolio which also includes its Massive MIMO solutions.

It further added that Zain’s existing LTE network will be upgraded to 5G by deploying Ericsson’s cloud packet core and voice over LTE solutions.
