Education with skills is the need of the hour: Javadekar
To provide industry apprenticeship opportunities to graduates in non-technical fields, passing out from the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) in April 2019, the Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar launched the Scheme for Higher Education Youth in Apprenticeship and Skills (SHREYAS) for youth pursuing higher education.
Work exposure
The objective is to enhance the employability of Indian youth by providing ‘on-job work exposure’ and stipend.
“Education with skills is the need of the hour and the SHREYAS will be a major effort to make our degree students more skilled, employable and aligned to the needs of our economy so that they obtain gainful employment,” said Javadekar.
