DSCI appoints cyber security expert Nandkumar Saravade its CEO

Data Security Council of India (DSCI) named cyber crime expert Nandkumar Saravade its Chief Executive Officer.

An ex-IPS officer, Saravade was an independent advisor on fraud and security to Ernst & Young (EY) and ICICI Bank. Before that, he was the South Asia head of security, investigation and vigilance at Citibank. During 2008-2011, he worked as General Manager, Financial Crime Prevention Group, ICICI Bank, where he was responsible for fraud risk management, internal investigations, vendor due diligence and regulatory reporting for the Bank.

“Mr. Saravade comes with several years of hands-on experience. Having worked extensively with the Government and industry makes his perspectives and contribution critical to DSCI,” said Gopal Pillai, former Home Secretary and Chairman, DSCI.

Saravade will join as the full-time CEO on July 1, succeeding industry veteran Kamlesh Bajaj, and taking over the interim charge from Nasscom vice president Rama Vedasree.

“I am absolutely delighted to join DSCI at this exciting time,” said Saravade. “It is a very challenging responsibility given the current environment on cyber security and I am committed to taking DSCI forward,” he added.

DSCI is an industry body for data protection in India, setup by Nasscom with an aim to establish best practices, standards and initiatives in cyber security and privacy.
