DoT to Trai: Address quality of services

NEW DELHI: Concerned over poor quality of telecom services with not much improvement in rate of call drops and slow network speeds, the department of telecom (DoT) has held discussions with sector regulator Trai to urgently look into the matter and sort out the issues.

“Trai has been advised to look into the issue, and instruct mobile operators to improve consumer services. The matter assumes importance as the quality of services continues to be an area of concern, with frequent consumer complaints about call drops and poor network quality,” a highly-placed source told TOI.

While monitoring of quality of services falls under domain of Trai, the government has stepped into the matter in an advisory role as it is an important consumer issue. “Discussions have been done with Trai, and we hope that network quality improves and consumers get better services,” the source said.
