DoT to SC: Want to reconsider appeal against TDSAT ruling
Mumbai: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has told the Supreme Court that it wants to reconsider its appeal against a telecom tribunal ruling backing telcos’ argument that the one-time spectrum charge (OTSC) should be levied prospectively. It has sought three more weeks for consultations on the issue.
A two-judge bench headed by Justice MR Shah set the next hearing for November 17, but told solicitor general Tushar Mehta that the government would need to “satisfy” the court, which will have to “consider the larger public interest.”
