DoT tests Airtel’s OpenRAN-based 5G trial network

NEW DELHI: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) Tuesday tested an open radio access network (OpenRAN)-based fifth generation or 5G-based field trial conducted by Bharti Airtel.

“Punjab LSA (licensed service area) of DoT carried out the 5G test trials offered by M/s Airtel at Chandigarh today, ” the department said in a tweet.

The OpenRAN-based 5G validation has been conducted in Chandigarh and Mohali using the 3500 MHz band test spectrum allotted to the telco by the department’s Wireless Planning and Coordination Wing (WPC).
