DoT may release second-generation telecom reforms soon: Report
NEW DELHI: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is expected to soon release the second-generation of reforms for the telecom sector primarily focused on simplifying the licensing process, rationalising penalties, and faster grants of spectrum for trial purposes, Financial Express reported Monday.
Citing sources, the business daily reported that the telecom department also plans to launch a regulatory sandbox framework that will provide a “lab-kind platform” for startups, telcos, gear makers, and academia to test and discover new use cases and solutions.
The overarching goal is to bring ease of doing business in the telecom sector, it said, adding that union minister of communications Ashwini Vaishnaw will announce these reforms.
