DoT keeping close eye on cyclone hit WB, Orissa to ensure uninterrupted services
New Delhi: The disaster management authorities of cyclone Yaas hit states West Bengal, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh have disseminated over six crore bulk messages in local languages to alert local residents, the government said.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) initiated the Common Alert Protocol (CAP) on May 24 and May 25, and over 3.87 crore alerts were in West Bengal, 2.43 crore in Odisha and 36.4 lacs in Andhra Pradesh.
In addition, for the first time Voice Alert Messages were also sent using Outbound Dialler (OBD) infrastructure.
