Disney+ triggers Japanese streaming market’s expansion in Q3, says report. Details here

According to recent reports, Disney+ has overtaken Hulu Japan in the Japanese streaming market. As per an analysis by consultancy firm Media Partners Asia and its proprietary AMPD Research Platform, in the third quarter of 2022, Japan added 1.1 million net new SVOD subscriptions (there are 49.4 million SVOD subscriptions in the entire Japanese market). Apparently, the strategy of offering discounts and brand franchises helped get more people to sign up for Disney+ over the course of the quarter.
