Disney+ Hotstar ARPU plunges in Q2, now has 31 million subscribers

Bengaluru: Walt Disney Co.-owned streaming service Disney+ Hotstar witnessed a drastic dip in its average revenue per user (ARPU) for the second quarter ended April 3, 2021.

The streaming service made just $0.2 (about Rs 14.7) from each subscriber per month during the quarter, as compared to $0.91 in the previous quarter, according to ETtech’s calculations.

During the company’s earnings conference call on Thursday, Disney Chief Financial Officer Christine McCarthy said that Disney+’s overall ARPU for the quarter was $3.99 per month. However, excluding Disney+ Hotstar, it was $5.61 per month.
