Disney again hold talks over selling TV business in India
US-based private equity firm Blackstone and Walt Disney have held preliminary discussions to acquire a stake in the entertainment company’s Indian business, a report has claimed. Blackstone is said to be exploring a sale or a partner for the digital and TV business in the country.
Citing two sources familiar with the matter, news agency Reuters reported that Blackstone-backed US media firm Candle Media, which was founded by former Disney executives, led conversations between the two parties last week.
The development comes a few days after it was reported that Disney held talks with billionaires Gautam Adani and Sun TV Network owner Kalanithi Maran. A report said that Disney is exploring possibilities, including selling some of its Indian operations or a mix of assets from the unit.
