Digital India needs an all-weather broadband
If the first decade of this century bore testimony to unprecedented growth of mobile telephony, the second decade has witnessed the rise of mobile internet and broadband. Even though the penetration of mobile broadband has increased, a lot still needs to be done to provide affordable, high quality, and ubiquitous data services across the country.
The telecommunications industry has played a pivotal role in ensuring business continuity for enterprises and delivery of e-governance services to citizens during the COVID disruptions. However, without substantial investments in high capacity networks, India’s march into the digital economy will face challenges.
