Difficult to cut India’s dependence on Chinese devices: TMA

NEW DELHI: It would be difficult to cut dependence on China-origin mobile handset companies by pausing supplies from the hostile country, and it might lead to unpleasant consumer experience, a Delhi-based industry group said, following the trade organisations such as the Confederation of All India Traders (Cait) opposition to Chinese products and India’s ambitious Atmanirbhar (self reliance) move.

“It is very difficult to cut the dependence on the Chinese device makers by abrupt cessation at this time, which is going to result in unpleasant experience with telecom ecosystem and consumers as opposed to gradually easing the dependency through reduction over time in a proper phased manner,” Bhawna Kumari, president of The Mobile Association told ETTelecom.
