Delhi riots: Former Facebook employee summoned to depose

NEW DELHI : Former Facebook employee Mark S. Luckie will depose before the Delhi state assembly’s committee on peace and harmony on Tuesday.

This comes after Facebook officials declined to depose before the committee, which is looking into the social media platform’s alleged inaction to contain harmful content. The assembly panel on peace and harmony is looking into complaints on the “role or complicity of Facebook officials in the Delhi riots” in February.

As per a statement issued by the committee, Luckie will be crucial as he had left Facebook in November 2018 after claiming that it inculcates a misguided work system within the company which has led to division in communities especially by the actions and inactions of the company.
