Delhi acid attack: Notice issued to Flipkart, what company says and more

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has sought explanation from e-commerce player Flipkart regarding sale of acid on its online platform. The notice comes in the wake of the acid attack incident on a teen in the national capital on December 14. Delhi Police has issued notice to Flipkart. The accused had purchased acid from Flipkart. The Supreme Court had in 2013 banned over-the-counter sale of acid at retail outlets.

CCPA has pointed out the easy availability of acid on the e-commerce platform. It termed it dangerous, hazardous and unsafe for consumers. The e-tailer has been asked to give an explanation within the next seven days.
