Delegation of work: To constantly firefight or create a vision for the future

A lot of business owners, entrepreneurs when asked about how does your typical day look like, respond with “my day is so choc-a-bloc, there is hardly any time for doing things that I actually want to do”. It is interesting then to look at what keeps them so busy. In most cases, the business owner is the “Head” of all departments – sales, marketing, production, supply chain, finance…you name it and he/she has a burning urge to be the leader of these departments.

Now, it isn’t a bad idea to lead, though by assuming the role of the head, the business owner needlessly creates a bottleneck in decision-making. The charm, and adrenaline rush of making all decisions is so high that giving it up is rarely even considered.
