Deepfake issue: Govt to meet executives from social media firms on November 23

The Union government is likely to meet senior executives from social media and other internet companies on Thursday to discuss the issue of the growing prevalence of deepfakes on the internet and ways to prevent such content, senior government officials said.

The meeting between senior officials from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and senior executives from social media and internet firms is likely to discuss a standard operating procedure with dos and don’ts for companies on deepfake content, said one of the officials cited above.
