Deep discounts on budget phones as firms look to clear inventory

New Delhi: Mobile phone users can look forward to big discounts in the New Year as well with smartphone brands stuck with heavy inventory after what experts believe is likely to be the worst-ever fourth-quarter for the industry.

Deep discounts are being rolled out mainly for entry-level and budget smartphones – segments which have seen the biggest drop in demand after a weaker-than-expected festive season. Currently, all the top brands are hosting discounted deals on smartphones on their official websites as well as ecommerce stores.
