Cyber security incidents in India tripled to 3.5 lakh in July, August from Jan-March: Sanjay Dhotre

India saw over 3.5 lakh cyber security incidents in the month of July and August, triple the number of incidents that it saw in the first three months of 2020, the Union Minister of state for electronics and information technology Sanjay Dhotre said in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

Dhotre, responding to a question from BJP MP Vishnu Dayal Ram, quoted data from Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), saying that cyber security incidents were seeing an increase during the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that between January and March, the country saw over 1.13 lakh cyber security incidents and increased to over 2.3 lakh incidents in the quarter to June.
