Cyber fraudster cheats Panchkula Army officer of Rs 14 lakh

A serving Colonel with the Indian Army was cheated of Rs 14 lakh by an unknown caller who introduced himself as a sub-inspector with the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and promised to take the Army officer’s house in Delhi on rent, police said.

The victim, Colonel Ravinder Kumar Sharma, who has been posted at Chandimandir Army Cantonment in Panchkula for the last two years, soon lodged a complaint with the Panchkula cyber cell.

According to the police, Col Sharma said he received a call on March 23 from a man who introduced himself as SI Aniket Vijay of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and enquired about rented accommodation.
