Cyber fraud: JSpur bizman robbed of Rs 55K

Cyber frauds duped a businessman, Biplab Mohanty, owner of a medical clinic here, of Rs 55,000 through online fraud on Friday.

Mohanty informed that an anonymous caller pretending an electric department employee sent a message that due to nonpayment of the electricity bill his power supply would be disconnected and a mobile number was given to contact the person to know facts.

Fearing his power supply to be snapped, Mohanty contacted the mobile number of the person who said that as he has been paying electricity bill online, his account has no update; so, he asked Mohanty to pay an amount Rs 10 for account updating.
