Cyber crime police block 25K sim cards

Chennai: The cybercrime wing has in the past four months blocked 25,135 sim cards across Tamil Nadu on suspicion of fraudulent activities, mainly cases of people illegally securing multiple connections using a single ID proof. Recently, the cybercrime wing discovered that one person had 100-150 mobile connections using a single Aadhaar number and wrote to the respective mobile service providers to cancel them.

Now, a person can check the status of his/her present/missing phone by sending an SMS to 14422 by typing KYM (know your mobile) followed by the IMEI number. He/she can also know the status through KYM App that can be downloaded from Google Playstore for Android users.
