Cyber cops in Mumbai save Solapur teen who posts intention to end life
MUMBAI: Well-timed intervention by cyber police at Bandra-Kurla Complex late on Monday saved a teenger from Solapur, who posted a message on his a social media networking site that he wanted to die by suicide. Police traced the boy within two hours and counselled him.
Around 11pm, police sub-inspector Dhanvesh Patil of BKC cyber police station received a call from an officer of the law response team of Meta Platforms who said they have come across an Instagram profile of a person whose status read that he was going to commit suicide, along with a photograph of an injection syringe filled with blood.
Patil informed DCP Balsingh Rajput of cyber police. “We immediately started work and traced the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the post. We also found a mobile number connected to the profile and collected the subscriber’s details record (SDR). It showed that the mobile phone owner was from Solapur district,” said an officer.
