Customers protest as Voda Idea deducts ₹99 for ‘international roaming’
Vodafone Idea has started refunding money to all subscribers from whose accounts ₹99 was deducted due to a technical glitch. The subscribers had complained that the deduction was made without their consent.
Many subscribers received an SMS on Tuesday from the operator saying the amount was being deducted against international roaming rental for 30 days. But this message was sent even to those who had not subscribed to the roaming services. Consumers also complained that outgoing calls and data usage for affected users were automatically barred.
Several users expressed their angst on Twitter. @SnehilMoonat, said: “Vodafone is pain this days. Doing fraud by charging numerous customers with 99 rupee international roaming rental. @DoT_India. please look into this. Vodafone should be penalised. @TRAI. This is mental trauma to customers.”
