Covid may hurt smartphone market recovery after strong Q1: Counterpoint
New Delhi: The ongoing Covid-crisis may cripple the recovery of India’s smartphone market which has seen three successive quarters of record-breaking shipments, with the March 2021 quarter seeing sales totalling 38 million, making it the best-ever first quarter, according to data released by Counterpoint Research.
While China’s Xiaomi led the overall smartphone market with a 26% share in the January-March period, Apple held on to its leading position in the premium segment (over INR 30,000) with almost 48% share. It also registered more than 1 million shipments for two consecutive quarters for the first time.
