Covid-19: Work from home option only for 40% TCS staffers

MUMBAI: While a majority of Tata group companies have asked employees to totally work out of home, the option has been restricted to about 40% of TCSNSE 3.61 % employees globally.

TCS employs around four lakh employees worldwide. Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran is understood to have sought special permission from Maharashtra chief minister Udhav Thackeray following a meeting in Mumbai on Friday afternoon, officials said. A number of critical utilities bank on TCS’ back-end IT support and therefore TCS cannot shut shop entirely and operate from home, the official said.
