Covid-19 lockdown: Doordarshan revives classics to cater to viewers

NEW DELHI: Having brought back historical epics Ramayana and Mahabharat for viewers across the country under the 21-day lockdown, state-run broadcaster Doordarshan is expanding on its slew of nostalgic offerings.

Among the classics set to be revived are the 47 episodes of Chanakya directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi on DD Bharti from the first week of April, and 52 episodes of Upanishad Ganga produced by Chinmaya Mission Trust and directed by Dwivedi. Among other shows being planned, starting the first week of April, are the daily one-hour telecast of Shaktimaan featuring Mukesh Khanna on DD National, Shriman Shrimati, a comedy produced by Markand Adhikari, for an afternoon slot, and 18 episodes of Krishna Kali for daily telecast in the evenings.
