Coronavirus: Telecom department asks states to ensure telecom network maintenance

NEW DELHI: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) Tuesday asked the chief secretaries and advisers to the administrators of union territories (UT) to designate nodal officers to ensure the maintenance of telecom infrastructure amid curfew and lockdown in states following the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

In a letter dated March 24, telecom secretary Anshu Prakash said, “telecom infrastructure is critical for maintaining communication, use of broadband and internet services, encouraging e-commerce and facilitating work from home during the restrictions period.”
