Coronavirus: Facebook expanding its Community Help feature

NEW DELHI: Social networking giant Facebook has announced that it is expanding its Community Help feature, which will enable neighbours request and offer assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Facebook introduced the feature in 2017 and it is used by people to help each other after any natural or man-made disasters and now Facebook has decided to use it for health crisis as well.
Presently, the company has rolled out the feature in the UK, US, France, Canada, Australia and it will be expanding to other regions soon. Users can access the Facebook Community Help section through the COVID-19 information Center placed on the top of your News Feed. Once there users can then filter the posts that are offering or requesting help. Users can also select the kind of help they are looking for with the help of categories like transport, food, baby supplies, and others.
In an official post, the company said, “Facebook is supporting the global public health community’s work to keep people safe and informed during the coronavirus public health crisis.
