Coronavirus: Apple to shut down all stores outside China

Apple has announced that it will be shutting all its stores — except those in Greater China — until March 27. In a statement titled “Apple’s COVID-19 response”, Apple CEO Tim Cook made this announcement. Cook said, “We will be closing all of our retail stores outside of Greater China until March 27. We are committed to providing exceptional service to our customers.”
Cook said that “One of those lessons is that the most effective way to minimize risk of the virus’s transmission is to reduce density and maximize social distance.” He further said, “As rates of new infections continue to grow in other places, we’re taking additional steps to protect our team members and customers.”
Apple’s online stores, however, will remain open across the world. Cook also said that for service and support, Apple’s customers can visit the company’s support website.
