Computer vision is an exciting field in AI now

As much as the combination of language and AI has captured the world’s imagination with the rise of generative AI, computer vision – which is the ability of a machine to comprehend what it is looking at – is an equally exciting area where AI and ML are playing a big role.

When researchers started seriously thinking about AI half a century ago, one of the first things they obsessed over was how to mimic the human eye, says Maharajan Veerabahu, co-founder of e-con Systems, a company that specialises in embedded camera modules. “Computer vision in combination with AI and ML will solve a lot of problems in the next couple of years.”

Veerabahu says young techies looking to break into this field should understand that computer vision is a combination of different things.
