Chinese telecom gear co ZTE eyes JV, tech transfer

NEW DELHI: Chinese government-owned telecom network provider ZTE has initiated conversations with Indian companies for transfer of technology and designs and formation of a joint venture as it navigates freeze on business after Indian government’s stringent checks and on its operations over security and regulatory concerns.

The company, which along with Huawei has been facing the brunt of border tensions, believes that having an Indian partner will help drive in the “critical trust factor” into its operations. This will enable it to service existing telecom and network companies, while also gaining new business.
