CERT-In is warning about new ‘Tycoon virus’ targeting your PC

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) is alerting about a new ransomware called “Tycoon” that is targeting Windows and Linux systems. The Tycoon ransomware is unique in the sense that it is human-operated and is reportedly targeting small businesses in software and education businesses since December 2019.
This ransomware found by BlackBerry Threat Intelligence and UK Cyber Response Services is said to be a multi-platform Java-based malware that can be used to encrypt both Windows and Linux devices, as per a report by Bleeping Computer.
As per the advisory by CERT-In, “the malware was deployed in a targeted attack against an organization where system administrators had been locked out of their systems following an attack on their domain controller and file servers.”
