CCI orders probe

The Competition Commission has ordered a detailed probe against Google for abuse of Android mobile platform after concluding that the conduct might result in denial of market access for competing apps. A 14-page order found Google’s restrictions on manufacturers seemed to amount to imposition of “unfair conditions” under India’s competition law.

The order came on a complaint filed by CCI staff Umar Javeed, Sukarma Thapar and Aaqib Javeed, under Section 19(1)(a) of the Competition Act, 2002 against Google LLC and Google India Pvt Ltd, alleging:
