CCI order will stall Android growth, Google tells SC
Google has said the Indian antitrust order against it may stall the growth of the Android ecosystem as the company will need to modify its existing contracts, introduce new license agreements, and alter existing arrangements with more than 1,100 device manufacturers and thousands of app developers.
In an appeal before the Supreme Court, the search engine giant said the Competition Commission of India’s order asking it to make changes in the Android ecosystem would require the company to “make far-reaching changes to the Android mobile platform which has been in place for the last 14-15 years” and will lead to “lasting and irreparable harm” to Google, device manufacturers, Indian consumers, app developers, and the wider Indian economy.
