Can block access to AIMIM supporter if Centre orders, say Facebook, YouTube
Mumbai: Social media platforms Facebook and YouTube on Monday told the Bombay high court that they would block access of their websites to an All India Majlis-e- Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) supporter, accused of posting inflammatory content aimed at creating communal unrest, if the Union government or the court orders.
A division bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Madhav Jamdar was hearing a petition filed by Mumbai resident Imran Khan, seeking a direction to police to take action against Abu Faizal for uploading incriminating hate speeches on social media. The petitioner’s lawyer earlier said Faizal was a supporter of the Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM).
