Cable channel price hike hearing today in Kolkata
KOLKATA: The blackout of cable TV channels continued across a majority of MSO platforms for the third day in Kolkata even as a court hearing on the issue of a price rise – that has been opposed by most MSOs and led broadcasters to switch off channels – was adjourned on Monday. While the hearing will take place on Tuesday, MSOs and cable operators are optimistic about a quick solution.
“We expect the court to consider that the price hike is too steep for an average consumer. It should be reasonable so that most cable TV viewers can afford the channels. We had expected broadcasters to discuss the issue with us but they unilaterally went ahead and announced the hike before withdrawing the channels
