Businessman approaches police after bank deducts amount debited to his account to compensate cyber fraud

A 52-year-old businessman from Andheri in Mumbai approached the police after a private bank credited Rs 99,976 from his account which was debited to his account by the bank days after a cyber fraud had siphoned off the amount.

According to the police, the complainant stays in Andheri (east) along with his wife and two children. On February 27, the complainant received a message from an unknown number which said his access to net banking has been blocked. “The businessman was further asked to click on a link mentioned below the message to revive the net banking facility,” said a police officer.
