Budget 2019: Mobile data consumption increased over 50 times in 5 years, says interim FM
Interim finance minister Piyush Goyal while presenting the Union Budget 2019 said that the monthly consumption of mobile data has increased by over 50 times in last 5 years.
“The cost of data and voice calls in India is possibly lowest in the world,” the minister said.
Furthermore, Goyal said that the government has a vision making 1 lakh digital villages in the next 5 years.
India is the second-largest telecom industry in the world, with a subscriber base of over 1.2 billion.
With 1.19 billion mobile phone connections and over 500 million internet users, India is the world’s second-largest telecommunications market.
