BSNL will stop losing subscribers from Oct-Nov, to emerge as strong competitor: Vaishnaw
NEW DELHI: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will stop losing subscribers by October-November 2023, said union telecom minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, according to a New Indian Express report.
Vaishnaw said that BSNL will emerge as a stiff competitor to private telcos in the next year, as per the report.
“Once the rollout of 4G and 5G takes place, the company will stop losing its subscribers,” he was quoted as saying in the report.
On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the third revival package of Rs 89,047 crores for the struggling telco, which also includes the allotment of 4G and 5G spectrum. BSNL’s authorised capital has also been increased from Rs 1,50,000 crores to Rs 2,10,000 crores.
