BSNL to expand 4G services

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) will commission 2,800 4G Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) in the State this year to enhance the mobile network, P.T. Mathew, Chief General Manager, BSNL, Kerala Circle, has said.

He was addressing a press conference on the BSNL’s plans in the current financial year here on Thursday.

Mr. Mathew said 4G services were available in Thrissur, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Nilambur so far using 700 BTSs. The new BTSs would be installed in important places, including main cities, to provide 4G services. Other places would likely see a direct rollout of 5G services, trial run for which was on.
