BSNL seeks to deploy telecom infrastructure in Red Corridor region
NEW DELHI: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has sought intervention from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to allow the telco to deploy the advanced phase of the state-funded telecom connectivity initiative in the left-wing extremism (LWE) affected states.
In a letter to telecom secretary, Anshu Prakash dated November 26, 2019, seen by ETT, BSNL Chairman Pravin Kumar Purwar said that the mega initiative should be allocated to the telco on a nomination basis and awarding the contract to any other carrier would impact seamless services.
Meanwhile, the department has further extended the last date for bids submission to Feb 24, 2020, for telecom infrastructure deployment in LWE or Red Corridor areas.
