BSNL seeks government nod for LWE network extension
NEW DELHI: State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has sought the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) nod to extend the telecom infrastructure in the Left-Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected areas to offer seamless mobile services to armed forces.
“We have asked for the extension of LWE program that will facilitate consumers in the region with seamless services,” BSNL chairman Pravin Kumar Purwar told ETTelecom and added that the state-backed telco was expecting the telecom department’s approval soon.
Robust and secure telecom network in the Red Corridor region covering as many as 10 states is, however crucial for national interest, and the state-run telco has been seeking an award for some time now.
