BSNL-MTNL merger: Employees seek redressal of legacy issues by government
NEW DELHI: As the Centre moves ahead with its plan to merge state-run Mahnagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a forum comprising several employee unions has urged the government solve sustainability issues, HR issues, pay-related issues, among others.
The forum, comprising unions such as AIGETOA, SNEA, SEWA, AIBSNLEA, TOA and AIBSNLOA, in a letter to union telecom minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, telecom secretary K Rajaraman and BSNL CMD PK Purwar, said that before finalising any proposal for the merger of MTNL with BSNL, long term viability from a point of anticipated revenue versus expenditure involved for at least 10 years must be examined.
