BSNL derails Modi’s “Super-Priority” project

National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) project initiated way back in mid of 2010, renamed in February 2015 as BharatNet, is a project of national importance on which government of India’s “Digital India” is dependant, but it has actually no one in the driving seat. Clueless telecom ministry formed a 9 member committee to suggest way forward. The committee gave a report, suggesting three ways – CPSU led, state government led, and private led. The ministry sent it to Trai for suggesting the way for its implementation. Now, Trai has now changed its direction altogether – Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model.
